The Hidden Beck
The Beck (1)
Meanwood Beck, which runs through the heart of Leeds, is one of those easily overlooked treasures of the city. Built for functional purposes, it has the quality of a secret stream flowing into unseen locations. Many people walk past it without a single glance although it’s something of a magnet to urban explorers.
The Beck (2)
It reminds me of one of my favourite books, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, in which the underground tunnels and sewers of London are home to a whole other city full of bizarre and colourful characters. Meanwood Beck looks as though it leads to just such a place.
