Walking Through Cities: School Debris

School Wasteland (1)

The city is littered with the remains of the educational system. Strict old Edwardian institutions, with separate doors for boys and girls, now boarded up and forgotten. Places where overstretched teachers lost all control and gave up until the inspectors closed them down. The wasteland in these photographs was the site of one such school, now almost completely levelled.

Teachers and pupils walked here once. Bullies and swots, the cool and the outcast. Fear everywhere.

School Wasteland (3)

All the schools I went to have been obliterated. I have no tears for them now.
