Walking Through Cities: Train Lines

Train Lines

The photo above is of a train approaching York Train Station. It was taken from the balcony of the National Railway Museum. As this is home to enough old engines to delight the heart of  any steam – or steampunk – enthusiast, going out onto the balcony is like standing between two different times. There are normally a few devoted train-spotters positioned there , well insulated against the weather, notebooks to hand.

I’ve been to this place as a child and an adult. I’ve been here with family and friends, some of whom are long departed from my life.
