Design Room: Outside of Reality

Entering the Void

Outside of Reality

For this piece, I imagined stepping from a concrete, suburban landscape into an entirely abstract environment. This could be both frightening and liberating. Perhaps there are places like this in the world. Apparently unassuming, they might be the gateways to whole new ways of understanding our surroundings.

I was partially inspired by the beautiful abstract paintings of Piet Mondrian and Marlow Moss and by the novel Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott. Most of all, I drew on my experience of space. The image was created using a photograph taken with a Sumsung Compact camera and Paint.
