Design Room: The Spaceman Ascends
The Spaceman Ascends
For this piece, I imagined an alien, bug eyed of course, landing on the Earth. I imagined him/her/it finding his/her/itself in an underpass, surrounded and dirtied by the rubbish strewn everywhere. Our waste, literal and metaphorical. I imagined the alien still ascending, driven on by the belief that the next level of our world will be better than this one. The alien records its thoughts and progress, unsure whether they will ever be read.
The alien climbs the steps, sullied but unbowed. He/she/it doesn’t know what he/she/it will see next. But you have to have hope.
